DevLog: 5th Week

Ana Abreu

Since the last devlog, we've changed our prototypes accordingly to the feedback we gave each other. We then tested the majority of the prototypes with some users from our focus group. Due to the current situation and some schedule conflicts, we only tested 3 out of the 4 low fidelity prototypes. The feedback was mostly positive and gave us a great idea of what to improve to turn Caleb's Demons into an even more enjoyable and challenging experience. We now have to better organize for the next dev cycle. We will also gather with the artists and the writers in the next few days, so the story and the character(s) can begin to be produced.

This week we finished and  tested the prototypes with our focus group. I couldn't get my test to be in person so i had to do it through a call, it was hard and had some complications but in the end it worked. We turned in a used feedback report and a tech feasibility report based on those prototypes. Looking at all the prototypes there are some cool mechanics in all of them and im looking foward to doing our first level. This weekend we will meet with everyone on this project to discuss the story and  Caleb's character.

This week we further developed our prototypes based on last week’s feedback. We also managed to test most of our prototypes. We also did a user feedback report and a tech feasibility report. We still have another meeting this week to discuss the game's story with the writing team.

Another week of working on our prototypes. After sharing our initial prototype iterations last weak and establishing some baselines to improve our prototypes and their cohesion with one another, the team decided to restructure each prototype now having into account what was discussed. After that, we moved on to prototype user testing which was a challenging task in my experience given that it had to be arranged remotely due to the current situation. Although it wasn't the ideal procedure, the team managed to gather some valuable feedback from our focus group regarding the path the game development was taking and details we might have been overlooking still. We were extremely pleased once more with the teacher's feedback regarding our final paper prototypes so the team can confidently move on to the next stage of the process. This week we scheduled an important meeting with the entire "Caleb's Demons" team to define some design choices so that the art and writing students can start working on the game with a clearer vision of the concept. Looking forward to it!
